Dave is excited for spring. He knows the first days of spring also mean the first days of extended time with the window open, and Dave sure loves looking out a window. He enjoys the fresh air, the breeze, and the increased ability to see and hear things happening outside the home. Sitting by an open window gives Dave a little taste of life on the outside, helping keep him a well-adjusted cat.

Changing of the seasons

Guest Appearance: Goldie
Goldie is yet another member of Dave's extended family. They are practically neighbors, but again, like Fluffy, Blue, and LeiLei, they have not met each other. Goldie has used Dave's cat carrier though, so they are acquainted at least by smell.
Goldie is a much more restless napper than Dave, but he shares some of Dave's skills. He even exceeds Dave's skills in some areas, like flexibility. As we know, Dave is quite flexible for his size, but he's no match for Goldie.

CSI: Dave, Volume X
Dave likes going out to hit the town. He doesn't get to do it often anymore, unfortunately. In fact, he still hasn't been more than a few steps outside his home since he moved into it a little over a year ago. Nonetheless, he remembers what the cat carrier is for. While Jack experiences PTSD-like symptoms at the thought of a long road trip, Dave is all about it. Occasionally, the cat carrier will be brought out from the closet, and Dave gets excited. He goes into investigation mode, hoping to discover whether he will soon be taking a road trip, and if so, where his destination will be.

The Crevasse, Volume IV
Dave doesn't mind cold weather, like many cats do. While Jack spends much of the winter months sitting on furnaces, people, or other warm objects, Dave doesn't change much about his habits. One thing he does do, however, is employ The Crevasse. It's a perfect time to do so, because being covered on both sides helps Dave conserve his body heat, as well as avoid any wind chill. Dave remembers sleeping outdoors on the mean streets of Iowa, where it can get cold. Although he now lives in an indoor, climate-controlled environment, he still carries over some of his old habits, like shielding himself from wind.

Guest Appearance: LeiLei
Another member of Dave's extended family is LeiLei. Like Fluffy and Blue, LeiLei has not yet had the pleasure of meeting Dave. She is assertive enough to handle Dave's rambunctiousness, but her personality is more like Jack's, so she might not always appreciate Dave's antics. She does appreciate, however, all of the napping strategies Dave has developed. She is a particular fan of The Crevasse.

Life as a star
Dave cares a lot about the impact he can have on other cats. That's why he is so heavily involved in this pursuit of greater napping strategies. Obviously, he likes having these strategies personally, but his real fulfillment comes from sharing his strategies with other cats around the world. But his efforts don't come without some sacrifices. One of those sacrifices is having to occasionally put up with a flashing light in his face. It is not always pleasant for Dave, but Dave is known for his patience. It is his patience that allows him to persevere in these times.

Flexibility
Dave is more flexible than he gets credit for. As you can see here, his great girth does not stop him from stretching into odd positions, positions that another animal might question. But as we know, Dave's flexibility doesn't stop with simply the physical characteristic. Dave is also figuratively flexible, willing to do whatever is necessary in order to achieve his objectives. Namely, to nap comfortably.

Guest Appearance: Blue, Volume II
You might remember that Blue shares with Dave a great fondness for investigations, but Blue has at least one other thing in common with Dave. They share a propensity to be major goofballs with no warning. Blue takes a much less serious approach to life than Dave. He is not too embarrassed to roll around all over the floor, or run in circles in the backyard, or try to bite a stream of water coming from a hose. He just enjoys life. Perhaps this is because he has lived a more sheltered life than Dave has, but whatever the reason, Blue has a good time and isn't afraid to let you know about it.

Dave's evening
Dave has spent the evening doing some of the things he does best. He has been napping, knocking over his water bowl while attempting to bury his food, and jumping onto the kitchen counter when he is not supposed to. He can be a goofball like that sometimes! But that is what you sign up for when you live with Dave.

Guest Appearance: Blue
This is Blue. Blue is not a cat. He is a dog, although Ron Swanson may disagree. Blue lives with Fluffy, and has also never had the pleasure of meeting Dave. Blue has some things in common with Dave, although his napping skills do not compare favorably to Dave's. (In fairness to Blue, no one's napping skills compare favorably to Dave's.) In fact, Blue has much more in common with Jack than he does with Dave. Blue is very personable and excitable. But he has some things in common with Dave, principally their shared love for investigations. Blue never misses a chance to discover something new.
