Enjoying Some Summer Produce

Here you can see Dave expressing his fondness for summer produce. One of the many things he misses about living on the mean streets of Iowa is the omnipresence of corn. Now he only gets to enjoy corn when it is brought to him from the outside.

Face in the Corner

Dave usually doesn't like to sleep with his face in a corner. Sometimes he winds up in a funny position, but even then he is usually able to keep a close eye on his surroundings, should anything come up. But here, you can see that Dave has sacrificed this heightened level of awareness for comfort. He does indeed look pretty comfortable. This is a close cousin of Dave's rarely used strategy of napping with his face smushed against the couch, but this version offers even less ability to spot imminent threats.

Fortunately for Dave, threats to his naps are few and far between these days.

Jack in the Box, Volume II

You may recall that Jack has a fondness for being in boxes. Much like his colleague The Dafe is always on the lookout for food, napping locations, and potential threats to his well-being, Jack is often on the lookout for a good box. He doesn't discriminate against short boxes, as you can see here.

The Crevasse: Volume VI - The Stretch

Sometimes when Dave employs the Crevasse strategy, he likes to also take the opportunity to stretch. This is the perfect time to stretch, because Dave is already warm, due to being covered on three sides. This averts an issue that can arise from stretching in the winter months or in front of an air conditioner. By combining stretching with the Crevasse, Dave avoids exposing too much of his body's surface area to cold air.

Again, not so much a problem these days, but Dave likes to plan ahead, developing strategies months in advance of when he will need them.

Drowning in a blanket

Here you can see Dave waking up from a nap, and much to his surprise, he feels as if he is drowning in a fluffy blanket. He does not expect to be alarmed in this way upon waking up from a nap, but it is just one reason that Dave subscribes to the Mad-Eye Moody theory of constant vigilance. It is also good that Dave is an effective swimmer, being a very well-rounded cat. He quickly recovered from the situation pictured below.

CSI: Dave, Volume XIII

Dave's well-known investigatory skills know no bounds, even the bounds of his current domicile. He knows that many things occur outside the home, and he always seeks to investigate the goings-on outside. For example, Dave might hear a small bird chirping outside, and peer out the window.

What are you looking at?

Here is a photograph of Dave wondering what you are looking at.

Dave in a funny position

This is not a typical napping position for Dave. It is really unlike any other napping strategy he has used. But there is one thing this strategy has in common with Dave's normal strategies: it looks very comfortable. It looks like the kind of napping strategy that would be effective in the winter months, so perhaps Dave is simply trying to prepare strategies well in advance this year. After all, last winter was quite severe, and as good as his improvisational skills are, he likes to be as prepared as possible.

Dave wondering about something

Dave is a quite pensive fellow. As much as he enjoys napping, he cannot sleep all day. He wouldn't even want to, because there are many things he likes to do apart from napping. Even all-time great artists like David Bowie, Dave Matthews, David Gilmour, Leonardo Dave Inci, and Michael Jordan spent/spend their time on a variety of activities, not just one artform.

In this photograph, Dave is probably wondering about his early days on the mean streets of Iowa, and how they constituted a difficult, but valuable, time in his life. He is nostalgic for those days sometimes.

Napping with his face smushed on the couch

This is a picture of Dave napping with his face smushed on the couch. He has to sleep like this sometimes, because his couch is actually a futon, and therefore the primary napping platform is on an incline. It is not ideal, but Dave makes the best of it.
